*Whispering to himself*
“Dammit Jean! Where are you?!”
I thought she was going to be by our lockers when class got out. I mean we always meet here but...“ looks up and down the hall full of passing students "there is no sight of her.”
Maybe she had soccer practice today. She usually doesn’t have it, but maybe since they have a big game coming up they do. Let’s just grab the books I need for tonight.
“AP Geometry, How to Fight Your Way Out of It, and Miner" Scott is bumped into by a passing student and he shuts his eyes closed as an optic beam is shot out of his eyes. “Shit!" he yells. "Can anyone help me find my glasses?”
crack
Well.... How the hell am I supposed to get out of here now? Okay, let’s just put our hand on the wall and walk along it until we reach the corner up here. How the hell did this happen again? I thought these ones weren’t just going to shift with the slightest adjustment. And why did the beam come out so fast? It usually takes a second or two to warm up.
“Scott, do you need a hand?”
“Professor?”
“Yes. Where are your glasses?
“They fell off my face and were stepped on when I was at my locker.”
“Oh. Well we can grab your spare pair from my office.”
“You have a spare pair?
“Of course.”
Thank god the Professor’s office is around the corner. That makes it easy right now. I can’t believe the Professor thought of having a spare set made. On second thought, it is probably the smart decision.
Wow these feel just like the last ones.
Wow these feel just like the last ones.
“Oh Professor, one more thing. The blast. It felt stronger when it shot out this time. It’s usually easier to handle but this time felt a little different.”
“Just like you mature as you become an adult, so do your powers. You’ll start to notice that not only you but also your peer’s powers will do the same. There was a time when Erik could hardly levitate a metal bar and months later he was able to make the tables in a lunchroom rise off the floor. Your powers are likely becoming stronger. It doesn’t surprise me that you weren’t able to fully hold it back but just keep working towards doing your best to control your powers so Room 167 doesn’t get another impromptu window.”
“What are you talking about Professor?” Scott said puzzled.
“Let’s just say, you weren’t able to fully hold in all of the blast.”

ReplyDeleteI love the X-Men! What a treat to find out more about what they could have been like in high school with other Marvel characters. It would also be really cool if the reason Cyclops gets his glasses knocked off is because Nightcrawler and Storm (or Ororo) got into a fight (accidentally pushing cyclops into the lockers). Either way, great post!!
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of a marvel high school where we can see famous marvel heroes learn how to control their powers and what they were like before the heroes they become later in life. One thing I noted about the post is that I think it would be clearer if you labeled who is talking when. To distinguish who is who when they are talking rather than guessing. Even though it was pretty clear who was talking when but for example
ReplyDeleteProfessor X “Scott, do you need a hand?”
Scott “Professor?”
Scott “Yes. Where are your glasses?
other than that it was a good post.
Great idea! An origin story with all Marvel characters going to the same high school is very entertaining and could render a large audience. There's so many different routes and story lines that you could create from this. Good start!
ReplyDeleteGreat concept! Superheroes in high school will have endless possibilities. I'm just imagining all the suits and powers, as the students interact with each other. I wonder what sports would be like at this school? That could be an interesting post down the line. This also reminds me a bit like Sky High, which is a pretty cool movie. I'd personally like to see maybe a villains school as well. That could be cool to see a high school Joker.
ReplyDeleteIt's always really cool to see some of our favorite characters we know and love, in situations, and environments, that are completely out their characters story norm. You definitely have set yourself up for a wide range, and large amount of stories, since Marvel has such a large pool of characters whose stories need telling. Overall, this was an interesting story, and I would definitely read more.
